Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, however will the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend football side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have impressed a several people under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four games.

A family member advised me to get Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have have lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
