Recent Details Surface Concerning the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely demises of esteemed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence home on Sunday.
The Discovery
According to a report citing a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore pushed back against circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes descriptions of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
