Puzzling Magenta Ooze on Remote Tasmanian Beach Prompts Anxiety of Likely Algae Outbreak

Officials in Tasmania are striving to determine a rosy sludge that has appeared on a remote shoreline, with a number of researchers worried it could be an algae outbreak.

Widespread Appearance Across Beaches

The magenta-hued slime was found on a stretch of a coastal area about 37 miles south of the city. A like substance has also been noted on parts of another local beach and an additional coastal site.
