Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
