Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
