Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
